The sun was shining as I set off, for the bright lights of… Blackpool ! http://illuminations.visitblackpool.com/
I’d not been in Blackpool for the illuminations in years, although a regular as a child, and young Dad… but not been for many years, so I joined all the other ‘old codgers’ for a trudge along the front in late Autumn sunshine!
I parked mid afternoon in Lytham St Annes, having driven along Blackpool seafront in daylight (not a pretty sight ), and then walked along the sandy beach , towards the metropolis of Blackpool ! Into the setting sun, it was glorious, and… bracing !, and soon the brightly glowing lights shone in the distance, changing the dreary, into …not so dreary. I’d walked a couple of hours , by which time it had gone dark, I was peckish, and this glowing sign attracted my attention…what does one do in Blackpool ? – have fish and chips, sat on the prom, quickly followed by 5 stodgy, sugary doughnuts !….
and then walk back to Lytham to try and get rid of the indigestion ! As i wandered back through the hordes of people, the illuminations came to me (not changed much !)
I had an exciting walk (mainly as I got lost, and ended up in the water…but that’s another story !) back to Wally in Lytham, and then took a ride up and down the prom seeing all the lights – amazing how many people were there, holidaying… I returned to Lytham, parking on the Leisure centre car park with a few other vans, for a peaceful night, wakening in sunshine, sea gulls… and pleasant views across the bay to all the windmills in the distance, almost gone full circle !
I was off before 10, travelling North in the sunshine..
