Flying into Ireland

An early start from home, to catch the buses to Manchester Airport, for a short midday flight to Belfast City -George Best airport –44 minutes ! http://www.belfastcityairport.com/ along with ‘little sis’ Annette, ready for the wedding of my nephew John Paul and Avril tomorrow.

I’d never been to Belfast, or indeed Northern Ireland before, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised, considering there were riots reported earlier in the week – which, fortunately I never saw any evidence of !

We soon were heading into Belfast City itself, on a convenient (and cheap) bus and checking into our Hotel, the Premier Inn http://www.premierinn.com/en/hotel/BELTIT/belfast-titanic-quarter?cmp=GLBC where the cases were unpacked, and we were soon out to have a look round

As we were so close, we walked to the Titanic museum, in the Odyssey area http://www.the-titanic.com/Titanic-Today/Attractions/Titanic-Belfast.aspx IMG_0311for a drink (and cake!)  before meeting up with my niece Clare, husband Tim, and son Harry – they all decided they were to go into the museum – I decided not to pay the price (£13-50) and so walked into Belfast City Centre itself – it being a nice sunny afternoon, although slightly blustery walking over the River Laggan http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belfast_City_Centre IMG_0319the centre was pleasantly busy, and with lots of older buildings,  I managed to keep myself busy sightseeing for the afternoon and early evening, IMG_0339before walking back over the River  to the Hotel, and a quick change before meeting up with many more of the family dotted around the city, flying in at differing times…

I’d like to say I got an early night…but can’t, ,Belfast City at night was quite pleasant, busy and enjoyable !
