Although not strictly a travelling day, I did have a drive over to the Staffordshire Moorlands area, to watch the Tour of Britain http://www.tourofbritain.com/ cycle race go by…
I had to be up early, and out through Buxton to try and locate the course, which I eventually found and got myself a great viewing location on an uphill bend near Quarnford.
The excitement built as first one, then another, and eventually loads of differing vehicles and Police motor bikes heralded the cyclists appearing , firstly a small group of 6 cyclists, followed by the Peloton being led by Team Sky http://www.teamsky.com/0,,,00+en-USS_01DBC.html, with Olympians Bradley Wiggins (the man I’ve overtaken!) (and ex village resident) and Mark Cavendish, the fastest man in the World, leading the charge…
it was over in seconds, as they made their way into Cheshire, and me back home…in the rain
