I had to drag myself out of bed, so that I could get the early buses into Bilbao, so by 9 a.m. I was stood outside the campsite waiting for the local bus,and waiting and waiting…eventually arriving about 20 minutes late, then off to Castro Urdialles, where after a slight hiccup (stayed on too long !) I managed to get the Bilbao Directo, Inter City bus..which took me right into the heart of Bilbao
On the way in, I’d seen directions for where I wanted to go, so rather than get the tram, I walked through the city, along the River, to the Guggenheim museum – as avid blogwatchers will remember ( !) I had visited the Guggenheim in New York also !!
I was soon outside the impressive entrance to the Guggenheim , and against my better judgement spent $13 on entrance fees, although it did include an audio guide. I wasn’t able to take pictures inside, so I can’t show you these pictures of some of the sculptures inside.. a very impressive building along with the artwork on display
When I had finished rushing around the building..I was hungry, and so treated myself to a nice Menu del Dia, of Hake, potatoes and salad, with a glass of Tinto to wash it all down, and all for an impressive $12 ! I then finished viewing the inside and outside glossy sculptures ( can you see me ?)
Then it was time to wander back across Bilbao, and catch my buses back to the campsite, which this time I managed without a hitch, although this time I did return to the beach, and surfers, to see some impressive wave riding
then back to Wally and settled down for a relax, and pack up ready to move again tomorrow, as rain is expected, so I may as well travel in it !
