I was up bright and early today, having packed I left Camping de Sarsan in Lourdes before 10 a.m., firstly going to the supermarket to stock up,with food and Diesel, before heading up the mountain passes towards Luz St-Saveur , where i briefly stopped, and then travelled to the nearby village of Sazos http://www.pyreneesride.com/village-des-pyrenees-en-sazos.htm where I had decided to stop at the Campsite Pyrenevasion http://www.campingpyrenevasion.com/campsite-france.html, as the altitude was around 820 mts high, and I thought I may need the heater at night !!
Thankfully the campsite was almost empty, and all the amenities were being worked on, so no hordes of people, which I’m sure it would be like in high summer !
I got a pitch at the back of the site, overlooking Luz St-Saveur in the valley below, hopefully I’ll have some clear nights, when I’ll be able to do some ‘star gazing’ ??
You could also see the still snow clad mountains up above..
I was just off the road, to the ski station at Luz Ardiden http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luz_Ardiden which has been a stage finish point of the Tour de France in the past, whether I’ll be able to climb it??…well, only time will tell !
I went for a walk round the village, to the church (unfortunately locked), and continued around the village, finding various footpaths marked, which I’ll have to sample..
I went up past the goat farm http://www.fermedescascades.fr/en/introduction-to-the-farm/products and above the waterfalls below ,then in true mountain fashion the afternoon rains arrived, so I returned to Wally, for an early dinner
-I’m going to be a true Englishman here, BBQ in the rain !
