Warm Enough for Jotown !

IMG_0542A pleasant morning, saw me riding along the nearby Canal de la Robine http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canal_de_la_Robine, up to a bridge spanning this waterway, giving me the options of several ways to go.. and I chose to go towards the…sea !

IMG_0543I rode along the canal, which is the link between the sea, and Narbonne, and the Canal du Midi, with the canal on one side, and the rice ‘paddy fields’ on the other…with an old ‘Tiger Moth’ type biplane, flying overhead, spraying crops…seemed like years gone by !

After about 15 kms, I arrived at the Ile Sainte Lucie, http://aude-aude.com/content/view/3617/1/ which I could ride around, and decided to save it for another day, and carried on for another 4 kms to Port-la-Nouvelle , http://www.corbieresweb.com/Port-la-Nouvelle-Office-de,39  I presume being named after it’s use after the port at Narbonne silted up ?

The port was quite busy, with several large ships being loaded, with what looked like grain, or possibly even rice ?, as one of the ships was from Tangiers

IMG_0553I carried on alongside the port, to the beachfront, and the sea…and for a nice rest and snacks.. there was me, sat there in shorts,T shirt and sandals, whilst the rest of the population were streaming off the beach dressed in coats, long trousers, and woolly hats – I had thought it quite warm, they didn’t seem to agree !

IMG_0556Having finished my snack, I had a ride round the town, including a quite posh town hall , then it was back along the canal, to the campsite (26 miles), and a welcoming splash in the pool, including sampling all the water slides, lunch..and resting in the sun for the afternoon…

Before an evening BBQ, and early night…a nice warm day
