Ouch…that hurts !

I was up bright and early, glad I was moving really, as the sky was a bit forbidding, although dry, and by 10 ‘ish I was on the road, heading for Narbonne, my destination being a campsite just outside  Narbonne Plage  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narbonne_plage

The journey wasn’t too long, and as I approached the coast, the sky was clearing all the time, and getting hotter by the mile ! I briefly stopped for Wi-Fi at McDonalds in Narbonne, and supplies at a big Carrefour supermarket.. then onward towards the coast…

I found my way to the selected campsite…. which resembled a builders yard ! It wasn’t yet opened for the season, although should have been, and clearly a lot of building work has been going on during the winter, and didn’t appear to have finished. So I headed into Narbonne Plage itself, and had a look around the Municipal campsite in the centre – which seemed to be full of agricultural labourers, and I didn’t fancy staying, so kept looking, and eventually made my way to Les Mimosas http://www.lesmimosas.co.uk/  at Mandirac, in the middle of the E’tangs,http://www.narbonne-tourism.co.uk/discover/the-countryside/nature/the-etangs-at-bages-sigean  and large rice growing area, with ‘paddy fields all around, and alongside a canal running to the Canal du Midi . It’s a very nice campsite, well laid out with pleasant reception staff, albeit in the middle of nowhere !…

but great bike trails which I should be able to use to get to Narbonne, Gruissan, and the beaches…we shall have to see…if it’s as nice as I think, I’ll stop here a while..

IMG_0532I did manage more washing, a BBQ..and a few mosquito bites ! before settling down for an early night,IMG_0539 and glimpses of a great sunset…

Let’s see what tomorrow brings…

Bonne Nuit
