Tuesday morning... And another torrential downpour saw me catching the train north from Pietrasanta to Chiavari, where Susan's great friend Lynne lives... I was having a 'couple of days off'
I was collected at the train station Mid morning by Lynne and taken up into the hills where firstly all (and I mean... All!) My clothes were dumped in the washing machine, for a good wash... Hand washing is ok... But after two months...?! I'm sure you understand!!
I later met her husband Fabrizio and daughter Elizabeth, and for the next two days was fed with food and drink... Given a nice big clean bed to sleep in, and had my first two days off together since I started back in April!!
Today they all brought me back the 2 hours car journey south to resume my pilgrimage Friday... from Lucca..
I was clean, relaxed... All talked out, and ready to resume as I left Chiavari
- Thanks so much Lynne, Fabrizio and Elizabeth for graciously putting me up at very short notice, without complaint, or indeed any recompense!!!
We all had lunch together, and they all returned to Chiavari with lots to do, whilst I had a look round the walled city of Lucca, with its many churches and great Cathedral
I just managed to get the last bed in the hostel above the ambulance station, right in the centre of the city, in a wonderful old building
I'd spotted the England v Wales Euro 2016 football match on TV nearby, so just managed to see the last few minutes... And England grabbing a great Victory!! - a good omen!?
I'll be back walking in the morning... so, for now.... Arrivederci!!
