Up early again to packup, ready to leave McArthy, and breakfast at the Potato http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-potato-mccarthy and a nice hot start to the day with a Breakfast Burrito, hot, hot,hot ! and a fill up with water from the community creek Then bags packed I had a last meander round the place, and waited for our trip back and across the footbridge, and into the van for another 50 + mile journey along the dirt road, which was a lot drier now, after 3 days of sunshine . We stopped to walk across the Chitina bridge crossing the river far below, and called in at a roadside diner for lunch – I had a ‘Mona Lisa’ sandwich ,that made me smile !
We then continued in hot sunshine to the foot of the Worthington glacier,http://dnr.alaska.gov/parks/aspunits/kenai/worthglsrs.htm where we had a short walk, and continuing up the road briefly stopped to view this large waterfall and onwards to Valdez old town, http://www.usc.edu/dept/tsunamis/alaska/1964/webpages/1964valdez.html which had been wiped out after a devastating earthquake and Tsunami in April 1964, and the entire town moved 3 miles down the road. A short stop her before heading to our campground for the night Bear Paw campground http://www.bearpawrvpark.com/ , lets hope we don’t see any tonight, as we’ve an early start tomorrow !
I took advantage of the laundry, and Wifi, before heading for dinner at a local inn, and early bed – Goodnight !
