Well, I’ve now got To Alaska…
I was up…before the crack of dawn this morning in Chicago, not wanting to miss my vital flight, so forgo’ed Breakfast, as they didn’t open until 7 a.m. as it was Saturday, got the shuttle bus to the airport…and was checked in, and through security within 10 minutes !!! So, only 2 hours to wait, and dream of the pancakes I could have had !
At least we were loaded on a packed plane in time, which was slightly late taking off, for a bumpy ride to the gateway to Alaska- Anchorage http://www.anchorage.net/. I had an initial shock at the airport, when I rang the Hotel for my ride, to be told they didn’t have a reservation for me, or indeed any Exodus travellers ! Anyway that was soon resolved, and I was collected and taken back to The Ramada Inn http://www.alaskaramada.com/hotelhome/ where I was given a friendly ‘Alaskan’ welcome, shown my room, given a map…and left to it !
I located an early evening mass at The Holy Family Cathedral, http://www.holyfamilycathedral.org/hfc/ so went there in the cool drizzly rain , the temperature being about 59F !, about 40F lower than what I have become used to !- although expected ! (and the forecast is reasonable !)
Then having ‘lost’ 3 hours today, and being up early, had a bite to eat, wandered around town(having forgotten my camera)…and bed !
Goodnight !
I’ll be in the wilds from now, for a couple of weeks, so may not be able to update anything, so you can look forward to some good stuff on my return !
