I got into Ramsgate mid afternoon, and hurriedly walked just over a mile to St Augustine's shrine, in the Pugin designed church - I'd had to rush as it closed at 4 pm !!
I managed it with about half an hour left, and so stopped to gather my thoughts before going through the specially designated 'Holy Door',
with views out to sea in front of me ...
The first Holy door of my pilgrimage - I'd started early , so I could leave early in the morning..
I was soon at the shrine to St Augustine
where I had time to stop, recollect and remember in prayer ... Everyone !
A beautiful church with great stained glass windows, recollecting St Augustines journeys to Rome & England..
Then , my time was up , so I wandered along the sea front and my bed for the night - the Royal Temple Yacht Club !! Not as plush as it sounds, nevertheless clean, welcoming... And a sink for pilgrim necessities - my first pilgrim wash !!
Off along the front for dinner, what else at the sea side , after my toes were dipped in the sea
--- fish and chips !!
So, I'll leave you a day ahead of schedule, having started my Pilgrimage with the prayer I picked up..
Have a great time Dad xx
