Sunday 17th April. A bit of a slog!!

Still with Simon, we left the hotel before 730 and were soon at the local bakery girlie specially ordered sandwiches, and breakfast rolls ...
Then off we went, leaving Peronne by an old railway track, which soon had us 6 kms along, and again into the fields of rural France.

By 1130 am we'd reached our days destination of Trefcon,

and after a break, we decided to push on a little more, again passing war cemeteries,

and through small villages...

The sun was hot, although the wind was biting and raw... But the ground was relatively flat !!

By 330 I'd walked enough as we got into Seracourt les Grandes... and stopped at a picnic bench to try to find somewhere to stay ... As we checked the guide book... a local said - "stay there, no charge!"

Almost next to us was a Via Francigena Halte, provided by the community for pilgrims. I rang the number, the local Marie (Mayor) turned up, let us in, gave me the key, insisted no payment was required, and left us to it!! What generosity !!

It's probably an old garage, now converted with shower, toilet, heating and mattresses... Perfect for pilgrims, and 'Thank you Seracourt les Grandes'.

We got food from the local shop, and retired early after our 26 kms slog in the sun!!
