sewn my badges on my rucksack,
left some reminders at special places,
and left home for my journey ...
I am heading out on the ancient Pilgrim route - the Via Francigena (http://www.viefrancigene.org/en/) which starts in Canterbury , England and ends up 2,000 kms later...at the tomb of St Peter in Rome !
However I am starting slightly differently - at the shrine to St Augustine in Ramsgate, Kent (http://explorekent.org/activities/the-way-of-st-augustine/) only a couple more days ( to add to the 3 months I'm expecting ..), and I thought a fitting place to start my journey , especially as in this 'Jubilee year of mercy' (http://www.bemerciful.co.uk/) the shrine has a Holy Door...
So it should be from one Holy historical place ... To another !!
St Marys scool at New Mills ( one of our Parish schools) had their own pilgrimage just before Easter, and all wore their special 'Pilgrim ' badges...So I now have one myself, and will take everyone with me on my journey.
I hope to keep posting updates as I go along, join with me and make this pilgrimage together !!
omnes viae Romam perducant
