That was the Winter that....Was !

Winter has come, and hopefully gone !...
and what have I done during it ?
Actually not a great deal ( of Adventures), although I have been busy doing lots of things ...and planning the rest of the year - I'll tell you when they come to fruition !

In January I visited Derwent Resevoir, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derwent_Reservoir_%28Derbyshire%29 site of the famous 'Dambusters' trial runs, where the water was pouring over the top of the dams ( not a usual sight !)

Looks a little like snow coming over the top...

I was up and down England a couple of times, until in late January I decided to visit the Brecon Beacons  http://www.breconbeacons.org/ as I had never been there, and thought it may be a 'good idea'...

I arrived there just in time to be greeted by a major winter storm, eventually finding shelter in a remote forest outside Merthyr Tydfil, and sat it out for a few days...., eventually the rain stopped..I thought with the prospects of a good climb to the top of Pen Y Fan... at least I had a nice sunrise !

I set off up the valley, no longer accompanied by sunshine, and quickly disappearred into the mist as I climbed the ridge... with a memorial to some recently killed servicemen on the top, at the trig point !

I did manage to navigate my way to the top, ready for the outstanding 'scenic views' !! - looks like I'll have to do it all over again...

Another couple of days of rain had me doing some sightseeing, and calling it a draw...and going home !

I did however spot some ruined monuments as I went along...

Back home wasn't much better.... although I did manage quite a few 'training trips' up onto Kinder, sometimes even in snow !
That's it ! everyone's up to date,
and now for the next journey...

Which starts... soon !!

I hope you'll enjoy it !
