A leisurely start to my Sunday off, young Kirsten carrying on on her travels as I had a big breakfast at the hotel, before packing up, leaving my rucksack there to collect later, and heading for 10 am mass at the nearby huge church of St Peters - quite apt I thought; even a statue of St Peter to wish me well!!
There were lots of people around in uniform, I wasn't quite sure what was going in, although they always celebrate 8th May (and most other days!) as it was the day the last war ended...
I then wandered around the city, far too much to tell, I just show a small sample... The river front, and bronze statue of Minotaur
A climb up to the Citadelle overlooking the town
And visits around and inside the Cathedral with the great Roman arch outside, and wonderful stained glass inside - I even managed to get a Cathedral stamp in my passport!!
At 6 pm I was met by Francis, and his partner Cove' who were to host me for the next couple of days...
He drove me up around the city, and along the route to Ornans - taking in all the views, and escaping the city busyness!!
Eventually to his house at Nans sous Sainte Anne - a lovely quest village, and his home for 30+ years ... A Brit abroad!!
A nice evening dinner, drinking and chatting till far too late finished off my day of rest!!
